Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is once again the third richest person in the world, ahead of Berkshire Hathaway, Warren Buffett.

Ever since July 22, 2016, when Bezos briefly passed up Buffett during trading hours for the first time, the two billionaires have remained neck and neck. Bezos again passed Buffett nearly a week later on July 28, as Amazon stock and Bezos’ net worth hit record highs. Both billionaires own such large amounts of stock in their respective companies that small stock market fluctuations can have billionaire dollar consequences for their net worth's–and their ranking on FORBE'S real time Billionaires list.

Emir Muhammad Sanusi II of Kano, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to seek the advice of top economic experts in and out of government to find solution to the economic crisis in the country.
The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, spoke on Wednesday, September 14 during the traditional Sallah Durbar (Hawan Nasarawa) at the Government House, Kano. Sanusi said now was the time to involve all forward-thinking individuals to seek way out of the recession that had hit the country and seriously affecting Nigerians, Daily Post reports. The Emir on Tuesday, September 13, revealed that many Nigerian ‘big men’ live pretentious lives as they exist on loan from banks.

Britian has introduced a new 5-pound note that is cleaner, chewable and washable.

Mark Carney, governor of the Bank of England, tests a new polymer 5-pound note by dipping it in a tray of food as he buys lunch at Whitecross Street Market in London.
It can withstand a spin-cycle in a washing machine filled with extremely hot water. It can be eaten by mischievous toddlers or pet hamsters without causing lethal indigestion. It can fend off wily criminals with micro lettering visible only under a microscope.

 cotton paper a new 5-pound note introduced on Tuesday by the British central bank, now comes in polymer, a thin, flexible plastic film that makes it stronger, safer and more resistant to counterfeiters.

Bill and Melinda Gate foundation to boost rice production in Nigeria


The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation on Tuesday said it was funding six agricultural commodities value chains with emphasis on rice and yam production to ensure food sufficient in Nigeria.

Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is the largest private foundation in the world, founded by Bill Gates.

Dr Audu Grema, the Senior Programme Officer, Agriculture in the West African Office of the Foundation, said in Abuja on Tuesday.

Edo Women demand apology from Mrs Betsy Obaseki



 Women from various organizations in Edo State over the weekend in  demanded that Mrs Betty Obaseki, the wife of APC candidate in the state apologize to all Edo women over a statement , she allegedly made accusing the past PDP administration for contributing to the problem of prostitution among Edo women in the state. They demanded she tenders an unreserved apology in all national dailies . Deaconess Regina Oviasu who addressed the women said that it is a something to worry about that Obaseki intends to lead Edo women she tagged as prostitutes. Bag of rice may sell for N40,000 by December – Minister


The Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, has said that Nigeria spends about $22bn a year on importation of food.



Lokpobiri made this known on Saturday at a town hall meeting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

He said the development had led to the astronomical rise in price of rice and other commodities, stressing that if Nigerians failed to produce some of the items being imported, before December the price of rice would skyrocket to N40,000 a bag.


He said there was a projection that by 2050, Nigeria’s population would be 450 million, wondering what would happen then if the people could not feed themselves now.

Lokpobiri said, “For your information, we spend about $22bn a year importing food into Nigeria. We know how many more dollars … and that is why you see the price of rice going up.

APC Alleges Plot By PDP To Unleash Mayhem, Rig Edo Election


The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has raised alarm over what it called an alleged plot by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to unleash violence and cause confusion in the state during the governorship election.


The party, which is holding power in the state, claims that the plan would pave way for the opposition to rig the governorship election scheduled for September 10.

A statement by the party said “no less than 500 militants from Delta are being mobilised to critical areas of Edo State to carry out this evil plan using the waterways.

“The primary targets are Edo-North using the River Niger to access areas around Agenebode; Edo-South, via the Osse River; and Edo Central, via Ilushi River”.

DSS, Police calls for postponement of Edo election


Department of State Security DSS, and The Nigerian Police Force and  have called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to postpone the Saturday September 10th governorship election in Edo state for security reasons. The security agencies made the call at a joint press briefing at the DSS Headquarters in Abuja today September 7th.

The police spokesperson, Don Awunah, in a statement he read during the conference said it is in the light of the intelligence gathered that they make the appeal for the postponement of the election.

Third polio case found in Nigeria


In Nigeria, a third case in a recent outbreak of polio has emerged, the World Health Organization (WHO) has said.
The virus has affected a child who has been paralyzed.
The WHO has linked this case to two initial cases which were discovered in August. These were the first on the continent for two years.
The Nigerian authorities are carrying out a mass polio vaccination campaign to try and deal with the outbreak.
Polio is a viral disease that usually affects children and can only be prevented through immunization.
It is spread by poor sanitation and contaminated water- BBC Africa

Its latest jaw-dropping megaproject is a tropical rainforest in a skyscraper hotel -- another world-first for the emirate.
